One Coleman Street 2025

London
2025

As the design of One Coleman Street marks its 25th year in 2027, the current owners are exploring options to extend its life. The following concept design proposals explore options to achieve a lasting and sustainable future for the building.

The constraints that informed the design of the existing building have changed significantly since it was originally conceived by David Walker Architects. In particular the townscape views that contained the massing have been modified and the rights of light restrictions have been relaxed.

While the current occupier will soon be leaving when its lease expires, there is a timely opportunity to enhance and expand the building utilising construction strategies that minimise embodied and operational carbon, while retaining as much of the existing building fabric as possible.

This approach retains the civic benefits of the current building and minimises the carbon footprint of the development. These proposals can show the way forward for sustainable development of early 21st century buildings within the City of London and beyond.
